The wind shifts, the seasons change – I hear the sounds as I walk by them, as I walk through them. Bamboo-like with feathers, they are so beautiful. These grasses are wild, free and uncontained not unlike the birds that flock by the hundreds outside my studio. An amazing site when the day ends and the light changes. I see the landscape as a dual setting; a tame tranquil place or as a “spiritscape” where the elements of the landscape become a metaphor for the passage of time, memories of loved ones and the wild happenings on the other side. My work is both investigative and symbolic. I give myself “assignments” and pursue them extensively knowing certain “discoveries” combined with an intuitive trust in the process will lead me onto still other pursuits.
